For many decades, the Alexandria Jaycees have been celebrating the holidays by giving to those less fortunate, with a Christmas Themed telethon. This live telethon event is held every December to raise money for Douglas County and surrounding areas. Many businesses, organizations, individuals and volunteers have made this possible through out the years. This year, make it your year!

Here are some more volunteer opportunities for Jingle Bells 2018

Decorating at LGCC Wed 12/5- We need as many people as possible to help set up and decorate Christmas trees and the stage, at Lake Geneva Christian Center in Alexandria on Wed. 12/5, starting at 6pm until finished. Come for a little while or stay the whole time, whatever you can do!

Unloading production equipment at LGCC 12/7 - We need 7-10 people to help our production crew unload production equipment out at Lake Geneva Christian Center. This goes fast if there are enough hands. I would say it would take around an hour or so. This will take place on Friday 12/7 around 9:00am.

Routing help 12/7 at H. Boyd Nelson - We could use about a dozen people to help on Friday evening, December 7 th at H. Boyd Nelson in Alexandria. We need help to put routing cards together, put stickers on toy bags and then combine them with routing cards. Knowledge of the city streets and roads is a plus but not required! This begins around 5:30-6pm and usually takes a couple of hours.

Toy “shopping” Saturday 12/8 at H. Boyd Nelson- We usually hope for 30-40 people to fill toy bags from the request sheets from families. You get a list and have to “shop” from the various toys that are divided into age group, to fill toy requests from the families in need. This begins around 9am until finished. Children may come, but need to be supervised as they “shop”. Cardboard food boxes also can be assembled at this time.

Tear down of the trees and the stage following the telethon on Saturday 12/8 at Lake Geneva- We can always use extra help from anyone who may be a night owl or who is out at LGCC watching the telethon live, to help us take down ornaments/trees/stage décor following the end of the telethon. This is usually around 10:30pm until finished. The more people, the better!

Food basket packaging and delivery 12/9 at H. Boyd Nelson- This is open to the community/public beginning at 9am. We package up all the food baskets and start deliveries as they are ready. You can come to H. Boyd Nelson and help with the food basket “assembly line”, do deliveries, or both! We give you instructions once you arrive that Sunday morning.

For more details on any of these opportunities, please call (320)-335-2488 or email beckylynn859@gmail.com.
